Window art

Last week, Northern VA got a snowstorm. and we got- rain? A few days later we got a dusting of snow, and this is what it looked like outside my window (with & without flash.)
I love the view out of my window, I even love the occasional mooo's from the cows behind my apartment building. haha. welcome to blacksburg.

And wouldn't ya know, after last weeks rain, freezing rain, sleet, and snow; today we were blessed with the most beautiful, sunny, 60 degree weather. Who else is ready for spring?

Design will save the world!

My newest goal is to try to sneak good and inspiring design into my life. It's starting with an Eames chair on my desktop and a color coded closet. It might go as far as blog face lift and reading some new books. We'll see.
The new desktop is from simple desktops. and if I had to pick out a desktop for Chris this would no doubt be it-

superfail.

i have some new argus pictures. i would have new pictures from my dad's camera (the practikus) but i failed. Like, didn't load the film right so none of the film was exposed, fail. So all the pictures from Northern Virginia, Capitol Hill, and Blacksburg from the last month are gone. Also my last roll of B&W film is gone. One of the realities of using film, I guess.

Enough whining, here's some images from thanksgiving in KY and Blacksburg's early December snow.

wedding: venue

Tada! here's a few snapshots of the location of our wedding reception. It took a while to find a place that was DIY friendly, rustic, charming, affordable, and sheltered (in case of rain). I went the other week to check it out and I am excited! If it looks familiar to you (YW camp, hint, hint) its because we chose one of the cabin camps at prince william forest park. Most likely we'll just be using this big dining hall, but there's also a pretty open air pavilion. decisions, decisions...

love the hanging lights and rafters in the center of the hall
and this fireplace will need some help, but with some love (and some big pictures on the mantle) we think it could be a great focal point.
location of a photo booth? I love the idea that the reception could 'flow' out of this porch with extra seating, photo booth, guest book, etc.

Chris and I love this place. He only got to see pictures, but gave the thumbs up. Its very rustic (read: old), and has its own character. But I'm excited to have a fresh location (not the typical mormon reception in the gymnasium) and to be outside! What do you think?

Happy Friday!

wedding: update

I am still home for break, before the new semester starts, and while my throat slowly heals from having my tonsils removed. ew. Being home has given me the opportunity to work on wedding plans. So here's an update- mostly just the BIG stuff. Huzzah
(June cannot come soon enough)

1. Wedding license- acquired! We have permission from the state of Maryland, and the county of Montgomery to be married.
2. Ceremony location- DC temple is booked!
3. Family dinner location- backyard!
4. Reception location- booked! (more on that later)
5. Dress- fabric purchased, will be started soon!
6. DIY projects- still have lots of them. Have a list and lots of supplies, and have started or finished lots of them!
7. Invitations- designed, paper purchased, need to finalize some details before they can be printed.

Still lots to do, but the plans are coming along.
